Forced to Walk a Dangerous Line – Consequences of Debt in Black Communities

Summary

For millions of Americans, debt controls access to wealth-building opportunities. This report explores the influence of debt on the racial wealth divide especially for Black communities. No longer is the social narrative of mismanagement of debt or individual behavior a helpful or statistical factor in the debt driven racial wealth gap. This report dives into these factors and provide interventions outside of policy change that can help the Black community ensure that debt doesn't control their balance sheet.
