Summary

The article consists of examinations of political discourse around the racial wealth gap. Included in that exploration is discussion of the impact of individual agency, education and financial literacy. Key findings include the deeply rooted racial wealth gap in socioeconomic and political structures rather than education aspirations and financial literacy. This is especially so for Black Americans. This article concludes with perspectives on why the gap still persists today.
