Storytelling

Light as a Feather - Celeste Pegues was connected to us via SistahBiz (formerlySistahpreneurs), which is a business accelerator for Black women entrepreneurs. With a background in Wellness Studies for Marginalized Communities from MSU of Denver, as well as multiple certifications including Doula services, Celeste wanted to use her education and training to create a wellness center in Denver. Products and services include doula services, spa services as well as spa retail products. Due to the start-up nature of her business, as well as not meeting the traditional credit profile that banks require, she was unable to obtain financing elsewhere. Our $22,500 loan provided her with what she needed for start-up expenses, equipment and inventory purchase and marketing. On the day we funded her loan, it brought tears to her eyes because we believed in her and her business. We will continue to support her business as she launches and grows.

JHTDESIGN STUDIOS, LLC - Jason Tucker started his career as architectural drafter and designer, a field in which he has over 11 years of experience. After the housing market crash, and navigating 4 layoffs in five and half years, he launched his own narrative design company in 2010. JHTDESIGN STUDIOS, LLC is a Colorado-based design company that has since served nearly 100 clients throughout the nation. The company specializes in telling businesses story through Identity, Web, and Print Design, with a focus on people, design, and inspiration, exemplified in the company’s tagline “We. Design. Wonder.

When Jason came to us in 2019, he needed a $15,000 loan to upgrade his workstation and to gain working capital for 1 to 3 months. He had approached traditional lenders, but was turned down because he didn't meet the bank's lending criteria. However, it was clear to our respective committees that Jason was hard working and of good character. Since the loan was funded in June 2019, it has been paid as agreed.

Jason shares that, "Colorado Lending Sources’ process helped me better understand my business as a whole particularly with regard to analyzing the company’s past, present, and projected financials."
