Storytelling

Shaun Jenkins, SJ’s Events & Staffing

“I have always loved hosting parties, everything from setting up the event to cooking the meal. This passion led me to open SJ’s Events & Staffing five years ago. Many partnerships have grown out of SJ’s Events & Staffing. I am now a front of house contractor for Harvest Moon Catering and Culinary Concepts AB, I help provide staffing and event set up/break down for their catering events. I am also on the preferred caterer list for Camp Holiday Trails, Mount Ida, and support Feast with supplying equipment and staff for their larger catering events.

The expansion of my business prompted me to get a better handle on my business finances and I decided to enroll in Community Investment Collaborative's (CIC) Financial Management Program. The first thing I addressed in the Financial Management Program was creating a plan to improve my credit. I then focused on my personal budget and was able to fully separate my personal and business finances.

I now track and review my finances weekly. Through CIC’s Financial Management Program I started to fully understand my business finances. I learned how to create my cash flow and how to track the exact amount of money the business was producing and spending. The Financial Management Program has enabled me to feel fully confident in my business finances, I am grateful for the constant support and feel great knowing that I always have someone to call when I feel stuck.”
