Missouri Women’s Business Center
The Missouri Women’s Business Center is a program of CMCA dedicated to providing small business development assistance with a focus on women, minorities, and low-to-moderate income-based entrepreneurs throughout Mid-Missouri.
Mission
The MoWBC is dedicated to breaking down barriers to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial success, with a focus on women-owned, minority-owned, and low-to-moderate income-based businesses. We assist entrepreneurs as they plan, start, build, and scale their businesses by providing accessible resources, programming, and whole health business coaching, at no cost, to all our clients.
Storytelling
We have a client that started with us in December of 2022, she has a business called "Dancing Divas" that she started with 2 students and no location to teach except at the park. After working with her on her business concept and structure, she has a sound business model, she has received a $5000 grant to rent a space, and she now has 7 students who participate in parades, competitions, and school events.
We also have a partnership with 2 black women who are starting a Yoni Salon. They were unsure they had a good idea so they were encouraged to take our business start-up class and created a sound business plan. They have recently presented and placed top 5 in a pitch competition and are well on their way to opening our first Yoni Salon complete with professional equipment and whole health practices. Currently we are building their business plan to include projections to ask for small business loan from a local bank to expand their equipment and better outfit their space.
