When providing services, we start by assessing the owner's capacity, commitment and clarity of business concept. Next we measure their effectiveness through monetary transactions with the intent to explore their potential to be profitable. We train from the inside, designing best practices and systems that work for the entrepreneur, and allowing them to practice with a lean start up budget. We then present them to open markets and evaluate their outcomes. The programs we offer are specific to the client, and through process modeling, we can provide real-time adjustments to the scope and scale of delivery to support sustainability and traction.

Flint Small Business Initiative: We accept 12 participants per cohort providing training, technical assistance, seed capital, and process modeling. This program has been active since 2016.

Best Practices Boot Camp: In this training program we accept up to ten participants. We assign a business advisor to those who have demonstrated market relevance and pair them with under performing retail establishments. Together the micro business and existing brick and mortar have an opportunity to increase market activity. The program has been supported by various micro lenders in Metro Detroit since 2013.

After two boot camps in Flint, we supported more than 34 startups. Three have just recently been awarded micro loan funds through the City of Flint's Revolving Loan Fund. We also completed business plans for more than 75% of the participants. Even more significant, six of the participants don't require funding because we right-sized their operations.

Mission

Our mission is to support the small business operator who has limited awareness of needed internal controls and external collateral, i.e. relationships, networks, and access to capital.

Storytelling

Chauncy Wynn, The Pitt Stop: secured a flex loan for $23,000, with $7,000 for working capital. We secured a hospital where the truck will be stationed six days a week serving staff and patients daily.

Treyvon Box, a returning citizen, Sirius Renovations: secured a $17,000 loan for working capital to support the senior chore services and minor home repair program, which includes lawn/snow removal for qualified citizens.

Therman Sisco- Sisco's Catering: previously made less than $30,000 in sales with his catering clientele. He now clears more than $65,000 in event catering.
