Entrepreneur Works offers small business loans, a multi-week business skills class held multiple times a year in Philadelphia and in neighboring Delaware County, special topics workshops for entrepreneurs ranging from financial capacity building ("How to Get A Loan") to social media and digital marketing. We hold multiple networking events each year including Entrepreneur Works Presents, which allows aspiring entrepreneurs to interact with successful entrepreneurs in an intimate setting. We believe in meeting our clients "where they are" and take a practical approach to training and technical assistance, assuming no prior financial knowledge. This approach helps build trust with our clients.

Mission

Our mission is to cultivate and promote successful entrepreneurs in underserved areas of the Greater Philadelphia region — entrepreneurs who then become economic engines in their own neighborhoods. By connecting entrepreneurs with access to capital, one-on-one technical assistance, business training and networking opportunities, Entrepreneur Works helps individuals develop economic self-sufficiency and create job opportunities through business ownership.

Storytelling

Many of our clients avail themselves to many of our services, which shows that we have succeeded in building trust. One client wanted to open an adult day care in her neighborhood in Philadelphia. This woman was a nurse with a social work background who wanted to provide a more enriching adult day care experience to senior members of her community. We approved a loan that helped her open her business and receive ongoing strategic guidance from our technical assistance staff. This client operates one of only two Black-owned adult day care services in Philadelphia.

Another example is a client who owns a property management company. This client completed our multi-week business course a few years ago and has been receiving technical assistance. Earlier this year, he was approved for a loan to purchase more equipment that allowed him to take on more contracts and hire employees.
